FAQ
What hub operators ask before they sign up.
Plans, payments, privacy, domains and moving over from spreadsheets. If your question is not here, write to hello@hubman.app.
Getting started
Who is HubMan for?
Innovation hubs, coworking spaces and accelerators. It covers desk and room bookings, events, members, payments, programmes and courses, and the front desk in one system.
See what it coversHow do I start?
Sign up, verify your email, then create your hub with its name, subdomain, locale, timezone, currency and contact details. Your hub starts on a 30-day trial of the full product.
Do I need a card to try it?
No. The 30-day trial of the full product starts without a card.
Who can do what inside a hub?
Every person has one of four roles: member, staff, admin or owner. Each action is checked on the server against the person's role, not just hidden in the interface, and owners keep the high-impact controls such as billing and domains.
Pricing and plans
Is there a free plan?
Yes, a very limited one, meant for a small hub or for trying things out. Its exact limits and the paid plans' prices are on the pricing page, which always shows the current plan catalogue.
See the plansWhat happens when the trial ends?
You can continue on the Free plan or choose a paid plan. If you do neither, your hub becomes read-only for staff and stays exportable. Nothing is deleted, and subscribing restores everything straight away.
Do I pay for staff?
On paid plans, staff, admins and owners are free. Only active members count towards your plan.
Are there discounts?
Annual billing gives two months free on any plan. Nonprofit, university and government-backed hubs can apply for 30% off the plan price.
Do I have to accept terms?
Yes, on every plan, including the trial. You accept HubMan's Terms when you create a hub, and a new version of the Terms needs to be accepted again.
Read the TermsPayments and currencies
Which payment providers and currencies do you support?
Paystack handles NGN, GHS, KES and ZAR. Stripe handles USD, EUR and GBP. Your hub's currency decides which provider is used.
Can I pay for HubMan itself in my own currency?
Plans are priced in USD, NGN, KES, GHS and ZAR from a price book, not converted at checkout. The pricing page has a currency switcher.
Switch currency on the pricing pageWho is the seller when a member pays?
Your hub. Under the Terms, each member payment is a transaction between your hub and the member, and HubMan is not the seller, the merchant of record or the payment provider. HubMan charges a platform fee on member payments that depends on your plan.
Does HubMan store card details?
No. Card details are handled by the payment provider. HubMan keeps payment records, and wallet balances come from a ledger.
Members and privacy
Are members listed publicly?
No. A new member is private until they choose to appear in the directory, and they can opt out again at any time.
Can I verify members' identity?
Yes, optionally. A hub can use an automated ID-number lookup through Prembly or review uploaded documents by hand. Because identity data is sensitive, the Terms require a hub to enable it only where it has a lawful basis and has told its members.
Does HubMan sell or use my members' data?
HubMan does not sell, rent or trade member data, and it does not use members' personal data for its own marketing on any plan. The Free plan allows only aggregated, de-identified usage data, set out in the Terms.
Read the TermsHow do people join my hub?
An admin invites an email address with a role and an expiry, and the person accepts with a single-use link. Applicants can also apply through your hub's application form.
Data and security
Can another hub see my hub's data?
No. Every record belongs to one hub, and every read and write is checked against the caller's membership of that hub. Tests that try to cross from one hub to another are required for every new feature.
Can I export my data?
Yes, at any time: on the Free plan, when lapsed, and after you leave. Exports use self-serve tools in a machine-readable format such as CSV or JSON.
What happens to my data if I close my account?
Your hub stays read-only for 90 days so you can export. After that HubMan deletes the data from the live service within 30 days, and from backups within its backup cycle, under the Terms.
Read the TermsIs there an audit trail?
Yes. Admins can review an audit log of member and staff actions.
Custom domains
Can I use my own domain for the app?
Yes. An owner requests a hostname such as app.yourhub.org, and members then sign in on that domain. Whether your plan includes a custom domain is shown on the pricing page.
How is a domain verified?
HubMan shows you the exact DNS records to add. It then checks the DNS and the certificate itself, and only after both pass does it allow sign-in on that domain. Removing a domain revokes that access.
Do you need my registrar login?
No. Your domain stays at your registrar and HubMan never asks for registrar passwords or account credentials. You add the records it gives you.
Will HubMan replace my existing website?
No. HubMan does not take over an independent website. A hub can optionally use HubMan's own public pages alongside it.
Moving from spreadsheets and other tools
How do I bring my existing members over?
Invite them by email, or have them apply through your hub's application form. If you have records to bring across, write to us and we will look at your case.
Email hello@hubman.appCan I run bookings and payments in one place instead of separate tools?
Yes. Bookings, events, wallets, payments and applications share one member record, so a booking and the payment for it are linked instead of living in two tools.
